It seems like it was a good year for the French chic brand A.P.C., which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. The festivities took various forms, including special parties in Tokyo, Paris and New York, the launch of sweatshirts with a symbolic ’87’ printed on front, as well as some truly impressive collaborations. One of them involved Veronica Falls, The Rapture, Paradis and Connan Mockasin in making 4 music brand T-shirts. Another collaboration resulted in an A/W 2013 capsule 2013 collection of classic jackets designed by Louis Wong, who interpreted them in a modern way.
Throughout 2012, there were also truly interesting collaborations with visual artists. The acclaimed photographer Alasdair McLellan was invited by Jean Touitou, A.P.C.’s President and Creative Director, to shoot the campaigns of several new collections. Another interesting collaboration was the one with director Thomas Tyman, who created a stop-motion jubilee short especially for the Parisian brand. The short presents the A.P.C.’s heritage in a collage form, documented in snapshot albums, scrapbooks and notebooks, party polaroids, editorial extracts, handwritten letters and garment badges. Very vintage, very A.P.C.
