With a collection with a name as sublime as “Roses drowning in a Molotov cocktail” it is with high hopes that the clothes are as just as sumptuous. The spring collection from Benji WZW does not disappoint.
A graduate of the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts, the same name brand, launched in 2014 is a luxury street wear line inspired by fringe Internet cultures and street tribalism. His AW14 collection and debut “Fall in Love with machinery” was lauded when shown at Toronto Men’s Fashion Week for its contemporary style.
The latest offerings follow down that contemporary path. The collection tells a story of self-destruction, to smile to hide what’s really wrong, full of nostalgic iconography and emotions with cartoon prints and hand-sewn embellishments. Perhaps the most notable feature is the denim, turned up, embellished and perfect with a pair of gold boots.
