Berthold’s spirit is described by a minimalist Swedish choice of color with, mostly, black and white, and a variation between natural and synthetic fabrics. Minimalism is also on show in the construction of some pieces; Berthold takes the “less is more” approach to the extreme, with most garments featuring zippers instead of buttons or lapels. Detailed tailoring and oversized pieces such as coats, shorts and trousers give the principal aesthetic to the brand, which hints at a move away from the skinny silhouette. Slim-fitting items are occasionally present, often used to accentuate the proportions of the looser cuts. Another key element is the sparse use of color in the lookbook. Even if the majority of pieces are black or white, they’re occasionally, broken up with a hint of grey or with what appears to be a space-inspired print, with bright purple and blue color.
