With hundreds of fresh graduates fighting for that life changing role working amongst the industry’s biggest names, only a selected few will shine brighter than others. Aided with a bear as his logo/mascot and an imagination that worked like no other, Bobby Abley slowly but surely worked his way up, creating a buzz around his name and attracting the attention and recognition from the likes of Dame Vivienne Westwood, Jeremy Scott and the late Alexander McQueen. After graduating from Ravensbourne college, his simple yet innovative prints and original, street inspired pieces earned him a place on the list of LFW designers.
His target customer is someone with no inhibitions, seen throughout his most recent ‘Wishery’ collection; an array of cartoon-inspired prints offering a fun, humorous approach to fashion design. Being an individual that possesses such unique energy and creative, childlike imagination, he has managed to take his prints and design concepts to heights some other designers might never be able to reach due to self limitation.
This season, Bobby Abley presented a Lookbook laden in light, carefree pastel shades and simple. From baseball caps, collared shirts with long sleeved jumpers, shorts and long-johns to knitted beanies, fairytale tree wood print ensembles topped with fluffy, pink, fur coats of wonder. The models’ gelled fringe and mickey mouse headpiece are reminiscent of a fashion-conscious schoolboy who one day decided to rule-defy by sporting his printed bed-wear to school one morning. What a lad. Join Bobby Abley and his fairytale clan, what better way to stand out?
