Yesterday, VICE unveiled their long awaited Illustration Exhibition show at the Pure Evil Gallery in the heart of Shoreditch. There was a very chilled, Artsy vibe to the evening, with guests from various parts meeting for an evening-worth of gallery viewing. VICE magazine is celebrated for their humorous drawings, controversial comic strips and quirky collages; some a little rude, some that make you think and pretty much all of them putting a smile on your face.
The private view enticed Art appreciators, photographers and party lovers as they danced, drank and laughed at the various works of Art placed along the walls of the gallery. As free drinks flowed (courtesy of Wild Turkey whiskey) music pumped through the speakers both upstairs in the main gallery as well as downstairs in the basement. Illustration work from the likes of Jonny Negron, Craig Questions and Malin Bergstrom were showcased, giving them their due appreciation; after all, these humorous illustrations always make articles that little bit more fun to read! It was a chance for readers alike to appreciate and get an insight into how the artists work as well as their inspiration; all this through work featured in past issues of VICE, new pieces and exclusive ones specially done for the exhibition showcase.
The exhibition runs between the 17th of May and the 2nd of June and is not one to be missed! Get down to the Pure Evil Gallery on Leonard Street for an exhibition that appreciates Art in it’s fun and light Illustration form; no hold backs whatsoever!
