Christian L’enfant Roi’s latest offering explores a dark moment in history by referencing the cancelled due to the onset of World War II, Winter Olympics of 1940. The suggested model for AW 14’ is that of a modern Japanese soldier with many of the pieces featuring details such as elongated backs, wide collars and bold patterns, traditionally found in kimonos. In addition, layers were manipulated into acquiring a visual aesthetic similar to armour, enhancing the idea of military-inspired fashion. Colour-wise the designer focused mostly on shades of grey and tan with dark indigo and olive green providing the final touch to many of the pieces.
