Christian L’Enfant Roi released an AW15 collection rich in maritime references. From the marinière shirt to the oversized dungarees and the multi-pocket vests, everything is constructed around the idea of a modern-day fisherman. It all makes perfect sense when you know that the Montreal-based brand did indeed draw inspiration from fishing equipments such as life vests, lures and floats. In doing so, he succeeded in creating completely wearable and stylish pieces which feature meticulously executed patchworks, side-button shirtings, elastic strap trousers and padded jackets. These pieces equally demonstrate the designer’s signature relaxed fits. This time around, Christian L’Enfant Roi is casting aside his usual preference for textural motifs, opting for the more classic plaid and seersucker. However, the whimsical and boyish universe in which the brand has thus far conveyed is maintained with delicacy. This is perhaps the subtle yet discernible detail giving the collection its je ne sais quoi that enchants and brings it together harmoniously.
