Chromat, ever since its emergence in 2010, has always, according to the brand’s own statement, strived to create unique structural pieces for the human body. And it certainly does that. The Spring/Summer 2015 “Formula 15” Collection draws one of its core inspirations from American artist Sol LeWitt’s Wall Drawing Series as well as the question of wearable technology which nowadays, isn’t an alien concept anymore. The pieces are fairly geometric with devilishly structured and maze-like lines that are clean cut and bewilderingly futuristic. The designer Becca McCharen, who’s interested in ever-evolving technology, lavishly incorporates 3D printing into the designs; bra cups, pockets and face masks. From Grimes, Nicki Minaj to Beyoncé, Chromat’s avid followers are surely mounting. It wouldn’t be at all surprising to see their clothes become the go-to recourse for eccentric pop-stars in the future.
