Cres. E Dim., short for ‘crescendo e diminuendo’- translating in musical terms to gradual growing and softening- is the South Korean label that does exactly what it says on the tin. Combining bold and futuristic elements with soft details and prints, designer, Hong Bum Kim has mastered his own brand of balance.
The S/S15 collection screams sports-luxe in its most precise, considered sense- avoiding overworked references to instead incorporate sporty slides, socks and fabrics into an original scheme. Architectural silhouettes rule; sharply angled, boxy tops and blazers and geometric shapes stand out, but never overpower, thanks to the addition of lightweight, flowing tracksuit bottoms and layered styling. Cobalt blue, and strategically placed red and baby pink hues add interest to the predominantly black, white and grey palette. The collection is fantastically wearable and unpretentious, epitomised by the ubiquitous accenting text, ‘REAL’ and ‘IN REAL LIFE’. The recipient of numerous prestigious design awards since its launch in 2009, Cres. E Dim. epitomises Seoul’s burgeoning status in the international fashion stakes.
