Fashion designer Dong-Jun Kang graduated from New York’s prestigious Parsons School of Design so it is no wonder his collections prove popular. After all former alumni also include designers Marc Jacobs, John Caruso from Abercrombie & Fitch, Prabal Gurung and Charles Youssef. Following his training he founded his label D.GNAK in 2006 and since then its customer profile has been youthful men with staunch style sensibilities. This vision is also combined with expert tailoring and innovative features that one wouldn’t expect.
His newest collection for Autumn/Winter 2013 was no exception to this rule when it was presented at Seoul Fashion Week. It was powerful, edgy and original. There were intriguing outfits with asymmetry and a wealth of options in black or deep gray. All of these pieces were of course presented using excellent tailoring in a classic way but with an innovative twist which makes them quite interesting. Good examples would be the frilled shirts paired with tuxedo jackets which were made with quality fabrics such as cotton, leather and wool. The A/W13 line really is Korean fashion at its best.
