With the use of the ‘global tribe’ theme, Eudon Choi’s Autumn/Winter 2013 collection creates a Benetton type of atmosphere. The ethnic diversity can be seen in the floral head gear, furry hats and Latin flavored dresses. These elements of the collection are very reminiscent of Kenzo Takada’s “40 Years of Fashion Celebration”, which was inspired by traditional Andean attire in Peru. The tribal inspirations add a refreshing manner of exoticism to the high fashion clothing. There are also some hard core eastern undertones, with the oversized white top and the shin length wide skirt, reminding us of Korean Hanboks. These strong ethnic influences are bridged by the language of modern high fashion, with the sleek; silver buttoned corset jacket, cardigans, voluminous scarves and mini dresses. Along with the high fashion gear come influences from another famous Asian fashion house, Commes Des Garcon. Some of the numbers remind us of Commes Des Garcon 2012 season, with the porcelain doll inspired dresses. Combining so many flavors together, Choi creates a swanky blend of old, modern and eastern themes for his newest collection.
