London-based fashion designer Alice Oluyitan is behind the newly emerging and very colorful clothing label GBEMi (pronounced with a silent “g,” of course). According to the label’s site, Oluyitan wanted to “ express her personal vision on the future of people homes, which she believes will look kind of like…a Techni-coloured pleasure dome, a vibrant recreation centre, a domestic amusement arcade, somewhere that will free the spirit, delight the senses, and unleash the personality.” In GBEMi’s recent AW13 collection, every color pastel is used with clashing cutouts. Boxy color blocked button down down jackets, tiered and sheer midi skirts in mermaid colors, and highlighter-colored neon and pink pointy points appear in key looks throughout the collection. If you look closely, there are reflective, almost holographic panels in each look, nodding to the emerging neo-futuristic trend.
