SS15 sees Itokawa Film’s Samuel Membery and James Ari King present one of the brand’s strongest collections to date. The almost entirely black and white collection comes with flashes of orange along with dégradé textiles, serving to add just a little pizzazz to the minimalist aesthetic. The hushed palette of course also makes for an impeccably clean framework with which to host the more adventurous sartorial endeavours: cuts to sleeves, mesh panel inserts, raw hemlines, and an attention to volume. The latter is the most salient feature of the smattering of covetable designs. Covetable because they fall in line with our enduring desire for easy clothes. The pieces boast, by and large, what we might call easy-chic. It’s a question of balance between just enough intrigue that you don’t doubt the integrity of the design, nor the fashion personality of the garments, and immediate wearability – without having to take too much style advice from a second-rate blogger, that is. Bravo, boys.
