The first thing that struck me when I looked at the new JoyRich lookbook shot by photographer Ramos Valencia, was the vivid colour in many of the pieces from the collection. From red trousers to a yellow hat and even gold shorts it is a vibrant explosion of colour. Inspired by the Americana culture from the 1950’s, fashion designer David Melgar presented his fall/winter 2013 collection for JoyRich. It included varsity-influenced bomber jackets, cuts inspired by both the 80’s and 90’s decades and beautiful floral prints presented in a quirky way. However the clothes are given a contemporary twist for modern times with an urban influence shown clearly through elements such as baseball caps, large logos and baggy shorts. The attitude of the models is also very urban and cool. The very popular monochrome trend also makes an appearance here in the form of a pair of baggy shorts inspired by a chess board which are very cool and new but yet understated compared to most of the collection.
