There can be something wonderful about this time of year. The barren tress, the darkened evenings, the chill of the wind. Thoughts turn to indoors, to wrapping up in a woolly jumper three sizes too large, a mug of tea in hand and nothing but candles and the blaze of a log fire for illumination. Johanna Glaza’s ethereal, delicate, and at times, gloriously epic music captures that mood. Combining a fey voice with a century old piano, her music is affecting and restorative, coming straight from the heart and soul. Composed whilst living on the fringes of a North London wood, a stint in New York and then in a cold basement below a coffee shop, the result is ‘Silence Is Kind’ – her debut EP, out today. Check out the EP and video below, pull on that woolly jumper and drift away.
