There is something stirring about the human voice, something which makes you stop in your tracks and reflect on the journey life has taken you on. Róisín O’s voice is no exception. Featured prominently on her new video ‘Hold On,’ it evokes the sort of soul stirring, room silencing reverence that you would expect at the end of an epic film or a season ending show. The video, made in Dublin by Simon Eustace and featuring Aaron Heffernan from RTE’s Love\Hate, tells the story of a night shift worker caught in the clutches of despair; but given a hand of hope by a security guard. The song was inspired by real-life hardships as Róisín explains:
“Sometimes our minds take us to dark places and is hard to escape. A very close friend of mine was going through a tough time, as happens us all, and I found myself wanting, but unable, to help make things better for him. Sometimes all you can do for someone is be there for them and let them know things will be better one day. This song is for him”
Róisín has just been signed to JSM in Germany and is about to embark on a 17 date German tour supporting Ryan Sheridan. She has recently toured America taking in New York, Boston, San Francisco, L.A. and a host of other cities. Her debut album, ‘The Secret Life Of Blue’ is available now in the UK and Ireland and will be released in Germany, Austria & Switzerland on October 4th. She plays her first Irish headline show of the year in Whelan’s, Dublin on October 18. CHASSEUR predicts you could hear a pin drop on the night.
