For many menswear designers, the cycle of seasons seems to matter little, as more and more we see dark greys, black and navy and heavy overcoats featuring for spring. It is for this reason that the spring collection from Julian Zigerli is a breath of fresh air. Born and raised in Switzerland, at the age of 20 Zigerli left for Germany to study fashion design at the University of Art Berlin. After graduating in 2010 he returned home to set up his own label. Since then he has presented his collections in London, Paris, Berlin, Seoul, Florence and Zurich. If there is an underlying theme to his aesthetic it would be the useful, smart and technical feel that he gives to his high end and sporty pieces. Colour and humour are ever present and prints are always different to the rest. For spring, prints are constructed by hand with foam as opposed to via computer manipulation. Standard menswear pieces like vests and t-shirts are bold and striking, in a mesh fabric and with unique texture details. Bright orange and yellow never looked so good.
