E.Tautz manage to make traditional Savile Row tailoring interesting to those of us who are not typically drawn to it. For AW15, Patrick Grant looked to the heritage of the North, ingeniously mixing two polar opposites; workwear with formal tailoring. Waists are high, trousers loose and flowing, complemented by roomy waistcoats, jackets and overcoats that are objects of abject beauty. In a somber palette of multi hued greys and blacks, with shirting in that English schoolboy blue, the urbane collection somehow called to mind the Eighties version of Brideshead Revisited starring Jeremy Irons, as well Brassai’s Paris. Cultured and very British, it was all enough to make one consider buying a (E.Tautz) suit.
