Some designers’ collections need few words, the classically timeless elegance of the clothes presented speaking clearly for themselves. Tom Ford is that designer, a man who is truly a master of his craft. Presenting his collection for the first time in a manner specifically designed to allow the audience to take good quality images (something that was previously verboten but that he in good nature admitted defeat in trying to prevent). Mr Ford himself introduced the collection in a very down to earth and humorous manner, proving once more that despite the ‘legend’ his perceived aura generates, he is in reality a man who upon meeting, instantly makes one feel at ease.
AW15 is a masterpiece in menswear. Elegant and directional, Ford melds seamlessly contemporary American sportswear and heritage workwear with more stylish touches that can be attributed to the influence of his time in Europe. Eveningwear and tailoring are movie star sharp, and the one button evening jackets would have looked so good on The Beatles. Of note also are more simple key menswear staples; the introduction of the perfect denim jeans (Made in America) and retro sneakers that are striking in their simplicity, plus very strong outerwear. Trends and style movements may come and go, but Tom Ford is forever.
