Ada Zanditon has long been a friend of Chasseur, and it’s no secret we are big fans of her ultra feminine gothy designs, punky jewellery, and the now notorious, outrageously sexy menswear partnership from London Collections: Men: Ada + Nik. Ada shows her collection in Berlin, but is present each season at London Fashion Week as part of the Esthetica exhibit showcasing London’s ethical design contingent. We visited the designer herself here for a private look at her SS14 collection, some of which she graciously self modeled, and also for a viewing of her latest fashion film ‘She Who Changes’, complete with hilariously outrageous commentary that we just can’t print. The film was shot by Thomas Knights and stars the gloriously androgynous singer Karin Park with new music from Karin (Opium) providing the soundtrack.
The film was screened at LFW as part of the British Fashion Council’s Fash/On Film Series and also features Ada’s swimwear collaboration with Auria London. For SS14, the new collection is pure Ada; tough rock goddess with a twist leather jackets, dramatic silhouettes, those beautiful signature prints, and intelligent design details such as ‘drape and pin’ dresses that can be altered to suit the wearers moods or flights of fancy. In Ada’s own words it’s all about ‘Hawaiian Goth’, with a touch of twenties glamour married expertly with her own brand of urban futurism in which she so fluidly makes the ‘classic’, future classics.
