The autumn/ winter 2015 collection from Mai-Gidah is a highly personal journey– designer Ali Alec Abdulrahim looks back at the bumpy road that he faced after leaving his native country of Ghana. Keen to evoke an emotion, the range mixes traditional menswear notions with a new approach to how to dress the modern man. Rebelling against the manufacture of mass produced clothes, the layers of fabric that adorn many of the pieces represent layers of meaning. The garments, colours and fabrics all evoke that sense of home– dark and earthy tones (black, olive green and a deep blood red) are met with classic white for much of the range with a beautiful floral print also making an appearance.
