Berlin based designer Marina Hoermanseder showed her AW14 collection at Berlin Fashion Week, a show we missed due to a scheduling conflict in Berlin, so we were keen to catch her London Fashion Week début at Fashion Scout, fueled all the more for the rumours that Lady Gaga herself had post BFW personally requested some of the designers pieces. Hoermanseder’s brought a welcome dose of Berlin kink and edge to a somewhat staid LFW, her collection is a Berlin Horror Story: Asylum, and we mean this in a very good way. She incorporates bondage, S&M and medical fetish gear like neck braces and body supports, twisted and beautiful leather creations such as restraint belt skirts, body plate armour and corsets, with accents of historical French military uniform shown in headwear and trenchcoats (she is French-Austrian herself). Hoermanseder then brilliantly juxtaposed the harsh outré aspects of her collection with Teutonic minimalist sports luxe clothing, for a distinct, brilliantly eye catching look. The designer trained at Alexander McQueen and his influence shows, her craft would without a shadow of a doubt have made the man himself very proud.
