Concept driven fashion label Monochrome, that integrates visual arts with fashion design have unveiled their latest collection for spring 2015 which shows off their technical ability and smart and sophisticated use of colour. The label attempts to develop imaginative ways to form pieces by applying geometric shapes and bespoke pattern cutting. The result is a unique take on tailoring which function is primary, but unified with details and quality. Genderless (i.e. unisex) their previous collections have been largely seasonless and capable of being worn by anyone, at anytime. The brand is possibly best known for a utilitarian aesthetic and this is evident in the latest collection.
“Kinetic” inspired by space travel and technology adopts a fresh and bright colour palette for the technically accomplished pieces. London life, mods and the urban setting are all part of the inspiration that can be seen on the waxed, waterproof cotton that is durable and efficient and the way in which many pieces are adaptable fit which gives them a multi use purpose. Classic black and grey is brought to life with splashes of cobalt blue and dusty grey which are a welcome change from the black and white. An androgynous, made for the streets collection from a brand with the ability to go further and further.
