To understand the rooted concept behind Korean based label Noirer, one would have to look to the root word itself. Noir directly translates to ‘black’ in French: the singular colour that features so heavily in every Noirer collection. The label describes the nature of their designs as ‘Dark, Deep, Dense’- using purposeful capitalisation to emphasise their pursuit for aesthetic profoundness. Their S/S15 collection predictably offers a limited palette: garments appear in pitch-black, with select pieces in oatmeal, fresh cream and ash grey. Where diversity lacks in colour, it is made up in the array of materials used. Cardigans in lightweight cotton, pullovers in woven net and neoprene dress shirts make for minimal, and yet versatile outfits. Cuts are rigid and formal: with slim fit jackets, and darted 3/4 length trousers. With a lookbook shot with a decidedly desolate background; Noirer creates clothing for the inviolable, dystopian warrior.
