Think of the names synonymous with 90’s fashion, and no doubt for many especially amongst our European readers, one of the first that springs to mind is JOOP!/Wolfgang Joop. From his ready to wear and jeans lines to the vast fragrance arsenal JOOP! Homme, the label was one of the most prominent names of the decade.
Fast forward to 2004 and the artist and designer, no longer with his namesake brand, debuted his new label Wunderkind at New York Fashion Week showing for several seasons before moving to the Paris circuit, last showing in 2012. Wunderkind made a triumphant return this PFW, which Chasseur was privileged to attend, with a well executed and colourful show that was pure Wolfgang Joop. Referencing stylistically much of the Nineties ‘greatest fashion hits’, and heavily inspired by the art world (the designer is also a prolific artist himself) think techno William Morris prints, Mondrian-esque footwear with a healthy dose of grunge, Wunderkind AW15 presented sportswear lux for the bohemian set. The peacock has shown his feathers, and what a beautiful display it is.
