Never overpowering but always powerful, Kerby Jean-Raymond’s young label, Pyer Moss has already carved its niche in the reinterpretation of classic athletic forms; producing menswear that marries urban functionality with luxurious complexity. The SS15 collection is characteristically greyscale in colour, but tantalising in detail and construction. Against this sombre backdrop, the eye is immediately drawn to strategically placed accents of colour- enveloping the arm, the shoulder or the waist- geometric shapes and contrasting finishes of gloss and matte. Dark and futuristic, the collection materialises a dystopian sci-fi fantasy, with heavy-duty looks that wouldn’t look out of place in Blade Runner or Terminator II.
Although in stark contrast to the aesthetic of Marchesa- where Jean-Raymond worked in his early career- the refined fit and intricate craftsmanship evident in the collection recalls the designer’s formative years. The label’s third collection to date, Pyer Moss SS15 is an impressive foresight into the future of sports-luxe.
