Saint Laurent has a thoroughly rock and roll heart. Band collaborations- most markedly within The Music Project- street-casting and alternative aesthetics have been centre stage since Hedi Slimane took the prestigious reigns back in March 2012. Making a departure from a characteristically sleek brand of rock and roll this season, S/S15’s Psych Rock menswear collection takes a step into all things free and easy, creating an unbuttoned, yet tough ‘70s bohemia. Fluid accessories, texture and folky-floral prints are key; the earthy colour palette is lost in the greyscale lookbook, making embellishments of embroidery and layered jewellery central to the hazy summer story. Of course, the floaty femininity brought by the feature of girls can not be ignored; and despite the focal enigma of this spirited tribe, Saint Laurent trademarks, such as skin-tight cigarette pants, are as impactful as ever.
