The statement sneaker is here to stay. The soft, sporty shoe that crept into catwalk shoes for the likes of Valentino and Tom Ford has become a firm fashion favourite and a staple in the modern mans wardrobe. Acknowledging our love of designer sneakers is the new collection from Six Lee and Aqua Two. The collaboration is the first for Hong Kong based menswear designer Six Lee. He was a perfect choice for sneaker firm Aqua Two, having previously designed accessories for Diamanti Per Tutti. This time around, he has designed 20 desirable shoe models in a variety of colours and styles and that are styled to perfection in the campaign film and images with Korean creative talents Gi Seok Cho and Seung Lee.
Inspired by the work of Melbourne painter Esther Stewart, Six Lee drew on the geometric shapes and colour palettes used. This crossing of styles manifests itself in the sneakers which feature traditional shoe elements mixed with a modern, sporty feel. Pastel shades are mixed with monochrome hues and strong design features like marble print, holographic sheen and tassels make this a unique and fresh perspective on the statement sneaker.
