London/Paris based fashion brand Smith-Wykes was created as ‘a celebration of character’ and that is something embodied in all of their lines. In this collection for Spring/Summer 2014 the brand aims to put their own interpretation of an outsider’s perspective on Japanese design inspired by 1960‘s fashion, film and architecture. They have created their outfits with the use of different fabrics such as cottons, linens, marl and slub yarns in muted colors. Signature clothing like the crew neck which is textured and made from knitwear and light macs feature for Spring/Summer 2014. London produced Japanese hand carved woodblock prints as well as kimono influenced stitching also make their appearance. In addition the new line features a wide range of soft colors such as light blue, crème and gray which go hand in hand with the brand’s belief that menswear “should work to complement, rather than overshadow, the individual”.
