As Sylvio Giardina grows as a designer, we see a move from the avant garde to a more contemporary and wearable vibe. Highly inspired by art and artifacts, the latest range from the designer entitled “Black Mirror”, takes its focus from a Claude mirror – a mirror that abstracts landscape scenarios, unifies shapes and blurs details, all at the same time. Similar to that concept, the new collection starts from a vision where fabrics and shapes blend and colours sway. Black is a predominant feature, but with the use of mirroring fabrics, vibrant effects are created which give way to brown, navy and hazel tones. Showing a command of how to work with fabric, Giardina works velvet, leather and mesh fabrics into the collection, which also includes a unique mini collection of accessories – earrings and necklaces made from plexiglas and tortoiseshell.
