Influenced by the origins of punk and the professional perspective surrounding the DIY ethic of the subculture, Undercover’s SS14 collection embraces global culture and does so in an oversized, edgy and dark way. The menswear range created by Japanese designer, Takahashi, enthuses designers to push their preconceived ideals of normality and ‘what is beautiful’, in order to create one off and seamlessly creative garments.
With an eye for sharp tailoring and a diverse selection of clothing, ranging from tank tops- long jackets- draped coats and jumpers, Takahashi has managed to encompass this notion of masculinity and compromised the original ‘suit ideals of manliness’ for the ever trendy black tailored exclusive look. Whilst most garments include the staple material (leather) to create an androgynous/blended aesthetic; others include printed font, pattern, layering and accessories to diversify and contemporize the lookbook.
