‘Pop Couture’ poster boy Nik Thakkar, he of must read cult blog Karlismyunkle, pretty much owns the fashion industry right now; from masterminding Diet Coke’s collaborations with Marc Jacobs and Jean Paul Gaultier, to hosting Fashion TV and SKY, writing for Huffington Post and running his own creative consultancy Nephew London…. these are just a few of Thakkar’s achievements. There is nary a warm apple pie that Nik doesn’t have a finger in so it makes sense then that such a cultural and stylistic influencer would be the go to man for East London vintage brand Nordic Poetry (whom he himself once served as the face of).
Nordic Poetry, whose aim is to fuse clean cut Nordic cool with British eccentricity, commissioned Thakkar and Elliot Morgan to create a fashion film that brings their visual aesthetic to life. The result is ‘Visual Aria’ featuring some of London’s breakthrough creative talent. These include Natt Weller (Paul Weller’s son), stylist and DJ Alexis Knox, model Ella Catliff, Radio 1 presenter Jen Long, face of Chasseur favourite BOY London; Charlie Isherwood, acclaimed pop artist Bright Light Bright Light, DJ/ party hostess du jour Munroe Bergdorf and of course Mr. easy on the eye himself with each of these London influencers modelling one of Nordic Poetry’s carefully curated vintage looks. In a world of mass consumption and increasingly homogeneous culture and design, Nordic Poetry offer a refreshing alternative for the fashion conscious, stylish individualists, and the inspirationally starved, which this Rankin approved film so elegantly reflects.
