I can’t help think that this lookbook would pop with a background of the outback, when the Wild West made its debut with cactus sidelining the border and tequila humming under the hats while a debauchery scenario played out with cowboys, Indians and punks all fighting over the best fitted item of clothing. However Wood Wood FW13 is a lot classier than that. They have no need for an elaborate narrative; their simple shapes speak with an honesty that fashion needs. Exchanging studded belts and torn accessories for stylistic athletic apparel, fitted jackets and coats, this collection keeps the chaos at bay by not harbouring detached plastic latitude, but instead a spin on the ‘fuck’ attitude.
Examining the garments in this broad spectrum of our inset mentality as clothes consumers, Wood Wood have managed to create concepts that not only work for a look, but target a multi mass of different scenes of fashion. Bearing the Rorschach on a jersey as it climbs upwards towards a simple classic white collared tee, or pushing the polar neck snug look to match with zip lines and softer material blazers, this collection is ideal for the cold weather. Feeding the body with air in-between the fabric spaces, the pants assortment directs an outfit to more of an ease, with a relaxed trouser or wide leg pants. Using prominent athletic cuts in their designs keeps it casual, but respectable; comfortable, but not too lounge-like. These play-on sweats would be wasted indoors at home; they were made to take the streets on.
