Anne Vest has succeeded in dressing the beauteous and unashamedly confident woman with her S/S ’15 collection. ‘Slightly irreverent and quietly brazen’: Vest’s woman wears her creations with pride. The idea of femininity is played and contested with. Typical silhouettes have been skewed to experiment with length and shape. It is a collection rich in contrast: dogtooth paired with check print; a drastic dip-hem shirt teamed with a mini skirt. Colours are fresh and understated. Placid whites contradict dense blacks, whilst sublime greys act as mediator hues. Fabrics also clash but with a resultantly harmonious effect. Lightweight silks, crisp cotton poplins and dense suedes combine to create texturally rich outfits. It is an impressively diverse collection: from vertically-striped statement coats, to casual wrap-around dresses. The line is effeminate, modern and outrightly independent.
