Fashion is somewhat like time travelling, always looking at past collections but living in the future. This lifestyle trend combines modern functionality with traditional fashion styles.
This year runways showcased a whirlwind world tour that took us on an adventure across the globe. Wanderlust is a key trend for fall winter 2013-14 and is only for the free spirited and well-travelled. Style your winter closets with jewel tones, enchanted wilderness, wolf and stag patterned tops, chunky woollen knits, fur-lined coats, floral prints, forest feel attire, snow-capped mountains and landscapes. The stylish traveller blazes a trail across the world collecting unique and beautiful pieces along the way. For winter designers take a page out of the global nomad’s travel book and put together inspirations from local crafts and past traditions. This high-winter trend binds the keen sense of adventure and a refreshed fascination for the great outdoors.
Leading colours to look out for are: Ground slate, warm brown, fennel green, midnight blue, rustic red and clear crystal blue. Like Spring 2013 graphic prints are still a source for this trend but this time designers took their cues from alpine landscapes and animals. Unfamiliar colour clashes, vibrant prints and rich colours are for those who like their wardrobe packed with a strong sense of the outdoors. Don’t be afraid to mix different textures together such as suede, fur, knit or tapestry to create a unique and interesting look.
Grab your passport because it’s time to jet-set and start getting ready for this year’s must-have trend for fall/winter 2013-2014.
