After a short career as an interior designer, Cristian Profico, decided to venture into a new, more fashion-oriented direction. He soon landed a job as a leather goods designer for Dolce & Gabbana, a valuable experience which not only provided him with great insight over the industry but also helped him set his mind on getting a BA in Fashion Design. Now, in his second year, the 28 year old designer, has finally achieved to create his debut collection, Placebo. Drawing inspiration from Masonry and in specific Cagliostro, a freemason and alchemist of the XVIII century, Profico produced a clean cut line with very structured forms which showcase perfectly the designer’s background in Italian fashion.
Linear and minimalistic in nature, Placebo, could easily be interpreted as the designer’s modern take on these themes with much attention being given to historical references associated with Masonry such as the geometrical shapes which make their appearance throughout the designs. Blazers, tailored pants, aprons, oversized shirts and man-skirts in a colour palette limited to just black and white, compose what seems to be just the first of many great collections to come from the designer who without a doubt makes it into our ‘Ones To Watch’ list.
