Korean fashion is all the rage right now in certain circles, and it’s not hard to see why. Korean designers excel at a particular brand of avant garde gothic fashion, and one who particularly stands out is Kang D with his ‘D.Gnak by Kang D‘ line. Using music references (mod, punk, grunge) the designer sharply tailored clothing that is brought to life through twisted detail and beautiful silhouettes. Kang also draws references from urban and street cultures and merges this with his inventive design ethos, that stems from his fascination with “disruption, eclecticism and experimentation.” As menswear moves ever in a more directional trajectory, Kang D is poised perfectly, with his particular ‘popular avant garde’ aesthetic, one which bridges the underground with the mainstream.
