Peir Wu is neither flash, nor boastful, yet qualifies as a brand that appreciates fine crafted pieces; evident throughout every collection launched since the first unveiling in 2011. Peir, the mastermind behind the brand, showcased her graduate collection during the London Fashion Week of AW11, receiving high approval from the public whilst doing this. This is no exception for her most recent collection either!
The Peir Wu SS13 campaign is set both in a white room and in a gated, grassy field in the middle of nowhere, making it far easier to appreciate the pure, minimal tone running through each collection piece. Peir offers a range of shorts with matching jackets, loose bottoms, tops, shirts and simple jackets with beautifully designed collars. Her ribbed, long and short sleeved tops take the simple t-shirt pattern to a new dimension, proving it is possible to add flavour and authenticity to an otherwise ordinary and classical piece. Fabric development holds a key role in the overall design process for Peir Wu, constantly defying the rules of fabric mixing as well as the exploration of new techniques. This is seen in her relaxed tailored short-suits, heavy panelled jackets and neon blue, pop jacket. Flashes of gold, red, grey and ink black lines shoot up her tops, almost like they’ve been painted on, evoking thoughts of a free, tribal nature.
Picture a man standing strong, free and earnest in garments that were made with him in mind. Designed so he could move comfortably and confidently; not one to show off, yet exciting passer-by‘s. All through the work of a Peir Wu piece.
