Cut shapes, gold splashes and PVC .. Jane Bowler’s brand new Spring Summer’14 collection highlights her ability to mix unlikely materials and recognise their potential by pushing and moulding them beyond their everyday uses. Each piece is embellished with gold studs which stands as a bold, recurring statement throughout the entire collection. Tender shades of pale powder pink, blues, navy and white are adorned with splashes of gold which doesn’t just stop at the fabric, but spills out onto various accessories worn by each model; wrist cuffs, bag .. even shades of nail polish has been considered with each nail sporting a turquoise and gold design.
The collection focuses on clear PVC and hand-cut leather, highlighting the raw talent and precision acquired by Jane in order to produce a number of unseen, one off pieces. Thin strips of fabric and tessellated shapes cut out with various widths and lengths have been carefully layered up to form high-waisted shorts, harnesses and dainty bandeau’s, giving the overall collection a new dimension. One piece to look out for is a navy halter neck top with white off-shoulder sleeves that have tactfully been fused together by strips of clear PVC and gold embellishment. It’s jigsaw-like joining emulates the feathers of a bird. Overall a fun, feminine collection with strong detail and consideration on every part.
