Sam Friend is his name. A local Miami musician making good with plenty of surprises in store for those in tune or passing familiarity with the post-folk movement. Humble as a saint, he shines with illuminating brilliance when strumming and lullabying. His heart sings of the crusades and dark times that bring enlightenment to all of us. His guitar is his ensign.
Born in Miami yet pickled in the deep South, his unique style of crooning to the modern blues has made his melancholy songs indelible to all listeners. Indebted to his poet uncle from Virginia, Sam Friend soaks in influences like a sponge and regurgitates them in thoughtful lyrics. His songs are catchy in a serene way and often veer away from standard routes. Music to accompany a glass of wine or finer ales.
Finding his way through his poetry and integrating them in songs, Sam Friend gallops through towns with a pure heart and colorful melodies, guitar in hand and voice at the ready. Blues and grays surround his aura and through his songs he emulates the past, present, and future tales of the young, the old, and those stuck in-between. A twangy sound and signature to his tunes, he prances through the states hoping only to share and fill the world with miracle melodies. An ear that chimes into one of Friend’s orchestrations is a wiser. Sam currently resides in Brooklyn and performs his catalog with a group calling themselves, “The Freckles”.
From time to time, Sam Friend can also be spotted plying his trade on random nights in any given Miami nook or cranny that will have him. And they usually will.
