Forget blue being the warmest colour, that connotation is strictly tied to Red. As a colour red has traditionally been associated with the ideas of love, romance and sensuality. Prague-based designer Katerina Hynkova, has created a collection solely comprised of red garments, to galvanise human sensory interaction.
“Let’s imagine the world where human beings are connected to each other. Every touch is printed on the skin of another person as a memory. This process creates their own appearance as a second skin. Our garments act as a reflection of our experience and a part of us. The original inspiration is based on human behavior, our need to touch…” Hynkova has carefully considered colour and fabric texture, to encourage people to touch each other. Oversized jumpers feature furry detailing, whilst skirts are made of lace and decorative beads. The designer explains that she wants her garments to draw attention, so that “a person would be forced, by his curiosity and lust of getting to know surface, to touch it.” It’s a daring selection of work- with an intimate undertone, that’s bound to leave someone red in the face too.
