Lara Quint’s “ESC” S/S ’15 collection is the most radical approach taken to the field of women’s workwear, since the introduction of Power dressing in the 80s. Farewell to the straight-laced attire of a plain blouse and a banal pencil skirt: Quint is intent on injecting flair, and a lot of it.
The idea behind the line is to “ESCape and change the restricted office dress code;” a feat which Quint achieves through colour alone. Horizontal and vertical stripes in different hues adorn skirts, trousers, dresses and jackets. Quint’s palette adheres strongly to the vibes of the season: lemon yellow, subtle lime and summer coral add zest to select garments. A few pieces appear in white, navy and dove grey; but Quint’s bold and experimental silhouettes mean the overall affect of each outfit is still fundamentally playful. Extreme wide legged trousers and Audrey Hepburn-eqsue full skirts show Quint’s shape work at its finest. Cut-outs, crop-tops and translucent materials bring a risqué element to her collection; it is essentially a work wardrobe for the confident, modern woman.
