Agi Mdumulla and Sam Cottonwent are the two vital components that make up the vibrant and fearless duo that is ‘Agi & Sam.’ Winning the ‘Emerging talent award’ for menswear at the British fashion awards in 2013, they came with a competitive drive and an appetite for success this season with their successful AW14 presentation. The team experimented with a black and white palette base, incorporating cheerful and unexpected red, paisley silks with quirky shades of tangerine and mint green on oil can ‘hazard’ pop-art illustrations à la Warhol. Key features included illusional, off-white, horizontal stripes creating a ripple effect as the models walked the run way. As well as this, jumbo monochrome check prints on a series of jackets, trousers and v-neck short sleeved tops were present. Jet black under-layers aided in bringing out the true beauty of a print often used, but not always completely appreciated in its right. The box-like garment silhouettes also helped in exaggerating this key feature.
