The Alexander McQueen SS15’ presentation saw tables turned from last season’s vampire chic to an unexpected art meets innovative tailoring. Saturated in an array of different colours including red, blue, yellow, grey as well as the more classic black and white combination – the new offering heavily features prints that take the form of abstract splashes of paint. Quite the bold move but nonetheless un-original which really begs the questions if McQueen is now giving in to current trends instead of ‘creating’ them. The answer becomes irrelevant as soon as we talk tailoring though, which is as sharp and edgy as one would expect it to be from one of Britain’s leading fashion houses. This is evident in many of the designs including our favourite Klaus Nomi-inspired pea coats and blazers with their oversized, almost boxy shapes. Other favourites include the leather cropped trousers, bomber jackets and of course matching shoes.
