As the first model stepped out to open the Jean-Pierre Braganza show this year, the ‘contradictory of femininity’ was represented in an exciting, monochromatic way; undoubtedly, a good show choice to draw day one of LFW to a close. From the striped, satin blazer and pleated, skater skirt ensemble at the start of the show to the white, low-neck, origami style, fold dress right at the end, his limited, yet bold colour palette did not take away the appeal of the overall collection. His chosen accent shades were delicate, yet confidently used, running well with the ‘tough-girl’ image.
With the sweet and innocent entwining with a dose of edge, the audience were treated to contrasting shades of pink, black, white, red and silver in organic forms that seemed mildly reminiscent of the typical, middle eastern print style.
This Spring Summer collection looks intently at the human form, not completely reliant on the everyday female figure, but instead using it as a guideline in order to flatter appropriately. With Braganza’s successful and renowned use of draping, pleats, asymmetric shapes and uneven hems, the show was both aesthetically pleasing and a thrill to watch overall.
