As the UK weather turns ever gloomier, we can at least look forward to Spring and the pieces that we will be wearing next season. High on the list of covetable brands is Marius Petrus, the Belgian based menswear brand by designer Marius Op’t Eynde. Launched in 2012 after an internship at the menswear departments of stalwarts Alexander McQueen and Raf Simons, the line honours the designer’s heritage taking the name “Petrus” from his grandfather.
The spring collection is a strong and masculine one where graphic shapes and architectural prints meet classic tailoring and bold colours. A modern tailoring approach is merged with trend let high tech sportswear materials. For the upcoming season, the designer takes inspiration from the travelling man – he is always on the move and exploring. These vibes are present in the crumpled, light suits and authentic workwear and military feel to the collection. White, navy and a safari light khaki are the main colours in the collection, but it is the prints that are the most powerful – crisp black and white architectural shapes make for interesting and unique designs, especially on the formal wear.
