In a simple web search, Misha Kahn is referred to as a ‘furniture designer’, but I must say that this title really underestimates him. It’s not that he’s not actually producing pieces of furniture, but his work is so creative that actually crossovers to art. It seems like he doesn’t have any kind of restriction concerning the materials he uses, as his work is far from the usual ‘wood, metal, and fabric’ combination hence the sense of liquidity most of his pieces feature. His work is innovative, with little Bauhaus traces, and definitely a fashion touch, that is more obvious in the powerful colors, and the few shoes he makes. Personally I just love his series of tables for their stability, and bizarre verticality. Misha Kahn is absolutely unique and one of a kind. Needless to say we will be keeping an eye out for any new work.
