To go global a brand needs to have appeal everywhere. The latest collection from Munsoo Kwon, the Seoul based designer of his namesake label is a considered attempt to merge contemporary European style with Korean heritage. Unveiled under the title “Cant Sleep Count Sheep” the collection has an undeniable European quality. The cut is sharp and crisp (best seen on the impressive range of overcoats) and the muted colours have that wear anytime, transitional season quality. A focused collection sees everything from peacoats to bombers and varsity jackets covered in bold pinstripes. This is particularly noteworthy on the hybrid pieces, in keeping with the menswear mood to be able to wear anything at all times. A dark olive, black and grey colour range keeps the range looking modern and cool. Any designer that can take the pinstripe out of the boardroom and into the street is worth applauding and this range makes a success of it.
