For a relatively young label, (established in 2002), Opening Ceremony have managed to create a signature style of clean lines and sporty influenced apparel that has held them in good stead in collections for both men and women. Collaborations with brands including Topshop, Rodarte and Maison Martin Margiela have cemented the brand’s reputation for fun and creativity.
For the men’s spring 2015 collection, designers Humberto Leon and Carol Lim have taken both this sporty feel and creativity and merged them together. Eschewing the trend for dark tonal looks, the collection features light grey, sky blue and yellow with palm tree prints. Whilst trousers may have been cuffed and sporty shorts featured throughout, they were all tailored and paired with elongated trench coats, mesh jackets and knitted sweaters with a soft wave optical print design. Cleverly incorporating formal elements and making them casual, the range also includes a rather impressive range of footwear – thick-soled shoes that are chunky and with rounded toecaps.
