Driven by her passion for the arts, Siwen Jian moved to the UK to study in the prestigious St. Martin’s College of Art and Design but soon enough took a turn for fashion. The result was ‘Collection11’, a collection fairly influenced from architecture and specifically Frank Gehry. The young Chinese designer has studied thoroughly the design work and coating in architecture and tried to encapsulate that in her own work. Her main inspiration point was the transition from structured and solid to soft, fluid and beautiful. In Collection11, there is a distinctive sense of layering. She creates a lovely movement through swirls, pleats and structured volume. She pays extra attention to the female bodyshape and forms patterns that seem comfortable yet intricate with a sense of high fashion. The key elements in the collection are centered around tailored, structured outerwear combined with soft, delicate silhouettes.
